1.Spark plugs are small essential parts for engine operation.
Spark plugs, for those not versed in mechanics, are like the Little Mouse Pérez: they exist but have no idea what they look like (and, unlike this cute rodent, no idea what they are for). If when the workshop manager tells you that you have a spark plug problem, but it sounds Chinese to you, we explain the failures that they can present and what they are a symptom so that your next visit to the mechanic is more fruitful.
It may seem trivial, but the truth is that it is quite important to keep it up to date. It carries between 200 and 500 euros of fine, but if you try to pass the inspection and you do not succeed you have two months to fix the failures, otherwise your car can be withdrawn.
Have you not passed the ITV? The DGT can catch you and this is the fine that awaits you
Spark plugs are small pieces in charge of igniting the mixture of fuel and oxygen in the cylinders of gasoline engines. In Christian, they are one of the elements by which your car starts and starts. That the spark plugs are in good condition will help your vehicle’s engine to be healthy and, if it has any mechanical problems or deterioration, these small parts will show the symptoms.
2.If it is black when you remove it …
There are probably problems with carbon deposits in the engine, so the spark plug is presented as covered with black dirt and carbon. The engine will have a hard time starting and the failure is due to long-term low-speed circulation, the ignition system being defective, or the distributor running late. It is recommended to go to the workshop.
3.If when removing it it is covered with oil …
Either the piston is leaking or the cylinder is damaged, which will cost you a lot of money to fix. On the other hand, if you have a two-stroke engine, it means that the fuel / oil ratio is not compensated. You will notice this failure because the engine has trouble starting and there are ignition problems.
4.If you have a whitish substance on top …
It is that you use poor quality gasoline that leaves residue on the spark plug. Or perhaps there is a loss of oil in the piston rings. It is recommended to change the spark plug and the fuel brand.
5.If the porcelain insulation is broken …
It is the worst symptom that your spark plugs can present. Insulation breakage is due to thermal shock from the engine and, if the porcelain comes loose from the spark plug, it can cause damage to the cylinders, valves or pistons (all very expensive malfunctions). You have to check the engine gases as soon as you notice and check that the porcelain cover has not affected anything besides obviously changing the spark plug. You will notice this failure because the engine does not perform and fails at all revolutions.
